I'd emphasize the point that it's a polarization between a large, broad left and a small, narrow right. That is the only honest interpretation. Polling shows that Bernie Sanders is about in the middle of the American majority. This is real 'centrism', as defined by Americans themselves.

That is to say about half of Americans are to the left of Sanders, with the majority of younger voters being even further left. Yet according to the framing of supposed left-leaning MSM, Sanders is too far left. The real polarization is between disconnected elites and the American people.
